Starting with the basics from footwork and up. Great conditioning or competition. Offering for beginners and advanced . Each class is 1.5 hours. Ages 8-15.
The 'Science of 8 Limbs' as it is traditionally referred to offers the prospective student a martial art that literally translates itself from the ring to self-defense with little or no modifications. Utilizing kicks, punches, elbows and knee strikes, one can gain multiple benefits of self-defense, cardio, fat-burning and muscle toning as well as strength training. Aikido is a modern Japanese martial art developed by Morihei Ueshiba in the early 20th century. Often translated as "The Way of Harmonious Spirit," Aikido emphasizes blending with the motion of an attacker and redirecting their force, rather than meeting force with force. This unique approach makes Aikido an art that focuses on defense without causing harm.
Kyokushin is a style of karate originating in Japan. It is a full-contact style of stand-up fighting and is rooted in a philosophy of self-improvement, discipline, and hard training.
Aerial Silks is offered Mon/Wed nights at 7pm and Sat mornings at 10:30am. Aerial Silks are first and foremost a way to get to know your body better. If you want a challenge, you've found it..... and if you're not challenged, you can make it one. Taught from the ground up, this class involve connecting to your core and generating movement so if you like having fun 15 feet off the floor, it's for you. Your friends won't understand what you're doing, and it's a wonderful answer to Jiu-Jitsu.
If you are looking for an "up-grade" from your usual cardio class, then this class is for you. A combination of weight and resistance training and kickboxing. Not kicking the air but pads and/or bags.
Systema is an Art that focuses on biomechanics andefficiency of movement. Literally meaning "The System" training includes but is not limited to: stand up, "fighting on the ground" as opposed to ground fighting, as well as teh pyschology of combat and working with and against multiple people. This class is beneficial for any individual regardless of their training background and students are essentially taught how to use potential limitations to their benefit.
